General Reflection

I have learned very important things in terms of writing, things that before I not handle with accuracy and that now handling much better, as the use of the punctuation. I used to write commas caressly  and without knowing why. Now I have learned that I must pay attention to the time of writing, whether that by exaggerated as it may sound, a comma can change everything. For example the expression: "Let's eat, grandpa" and "Let's eat grandpa". This is an example that is very simple but at the same time shows the importance of the punctuation in interpreting a message.

Coordinating Conjuctions: FANBOYS

For: Explains reason or purpose.

       

I am going to buy a new dress for my sister's birthday.

And: Adds one thing to another.

       

My brother and I went to the movies yesterday.

Nor: Used to present an alternative negative idea to an

        already started negative idea.

    

I like neither swimming nor going to the beach.

But: Shows contrast.

       

 Mindy is a great friend but she talks too much.

Or: Presents an alternative or a choice.

     

You can go to my house or I can go to yours.

Yet: Introduces a contrasting idea that follows the preceding 

       idea logically.

Sabrina is a really nice person but she can't control her magic yet.

So: Indicates effect, result or consequence.

     

My sister is mad because I broke her glasses, so I've got to apologize to her.

My favorite holiday

Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love Christmas because I can spend time with my family, cooking with my brother, and of course, because I receive presents. I also like to do some activities alone, like watching movies and reading. I'm a TV, and in Christmas there is a lot of good movies to watch in family. Some of my favorites are "Home Alone", "The Grinch", and "The Nightmare Before Christmas". Also, it is the perfect time to cook and to try new recipes. My brother and I are vegetarians, so we can't eat any type of food. That's why, we love to make different recipes that we watch on the Internet. Another thing that I like about Christmas, it's that we can decorate the Christmas tree. It's a really fun activity that we can in family. Finally, one of the most important reasons, because I love Christmas is that this holiday is in summer, so I don't have to go to the university, and I can relax and enjoy my time with my loved ones.

Reflection:

Oktapodi: A love story

The next story is a beautiful love story about two octopuses in love. Jimmy and Sarah were a couple that lived happily in a fishtank. They loved to spend time together, hugging each other, and looking at their eyes. The only problem with their fairytale story was that they lived in a fishstore, so they were always afraid of that someone someday went to buy one of them. And one day the inevitable happened.

It was a beautiful sunny day in the fishstore. Sarah and Jimmy were hugging each other when suddenly the evil knocked at their door. A tall and thin man entered to the store and talked to the salesman. He wanted to buy one of them and he did it. The salesman put on a yellow glove on his hand and took out Sarah. Jimmy saw how the man was taking away the love of his life and carrying her directly to death. He jumped out of the fishtank and rushed to save her. The man drove fast but the love for her was stronger, so he reached the car and fought for her. The man was determined to take her with him, but Jimmy was not willing to let her go easily. She pulled the lever and the man lost control of the vehicle. Sarah and Jimmy were ejected from the car and left on the sidewalk. The man didn't give up and went after them, and they jumped from pool to pool to save themselves. Unfortunately the man caught them but they defended themselves by throwing ink to him. They grabbed themselves to a clothes line and stayed there, while the man and the car ended up right to the sea.

Finally when they thought it was all over, a seagul appeared and took away Jimmy, but this time was she who without hesitation went to rescue him.

Reflection:

I loved writing this paragraph because I loved the video. I think that narrative texts are my favorites. I love the idea of telling stories, I like to give details and  make the reader feel that he or she is part of the history. With this paragraph I reinforced very much the punctuation, connectors and grammar.

My extraordinary little brother

My brother is a special person in my life because nobody in the world knows me, accepts me and supports me like he does. He is very good-looking. He is short like me but he looks taller because he is thin. He is fifteen years old but he seems a little bit younger. He has big, round, brown eyes and although it is very common in this country to have the eyes of this color, for me his eyes are like windows towards his beautiful soul. He has short, straight, dark brown hair that combines perfectly with his olive skin.

He is my younger brother but sometimes I feel like he is older than me because he is very mature. Even though he is a teenager, he doesn't act like one because he is not interested in parties or girlfriends like most of the teenagers. He prefers to spend his time reading a book or watching a movie. He is very creative and imaginative. Sometimes when I arrive at home from the university, he is waiting for me with some story that he wrote in his free time at school and I really enjoy listening to him. I admire him a lot because he is an open-minded person. He accepts people without judging them. He doesn't really mind whether a person is black, fat, gay or Jewish because the only important thing for him it is if that person has good feelings. And because of that and much more I love my brother more than anyone in this world.

Reflection:

This was my second paragraph and I think it came out pretty good. At the beginning It was difficult to me to organize the ideas but then everything flowed nicely. I had fewer problems in terms of vocabulary and punctuation than before, since I knew certain rules. I learned that when we write a descriptive paragraph ,we must put attention to the details  because that way it is more attractive for the person who is going to read it. I really enjoyed  writing this paragraph.

Night Person

 I like night because there is more silence and I have free time to do whatever I want, like watching tv, spending time with my family, playing games in my smartphone, listening to music or talking with my friends on facebook, things that I can't do during the day. At night I feel tired because of all the activities that I do in the morning but at the same time I feel happy because I have time to rest. One of the things that I enjoy the most is spending time with my brother because he is really funny and makes me laugh a lot with the things that he says. Another thing that I love about the night is the moon. I think that the moon is a beautiful light that shines for us every night to make us feel that everything is fine, and it doesn't matter how lonely we can feel us because just like her we can shine in the darkest solitude.

Reflection:

When I wrote this paragraph, it was a little bit difficult because I didn't really know the rules of grammar and I did not know much vocabulary, but I think I did it well at the end. I learned a lot of rules of punctuation and vocabulary.
